Why is death so scary for most people in our culture?
According to Louis Silverstein, Ph.D. and Professor at Columbia College, there are several reasons. It is partly due to a lack of exposure to natural death, the negative and violent impressions made by mass media, as well as a fear of getting older.

There is a growing hype and stigma around 2012 and its possible significance. There is even an upcoming Hollywood movie called “2012″, where the protagonists “fight to counteract the apocalyptic events…predicted by the ancient Mayan calendar.” These fantastic endgame scenarios are further empowered largely by our fear-culture, and the lunatic fringe that brought us the Y2K scare. In less than two weeks, the U.S. House and Senate are voting on bill H.R. 875 that, if passed, will put an end to organic farming. Basically, this bill states that a “Food Safety Administration” would be established within the Department of Health and Human Services, who’s core responsibility would be “to protect the public health by preventing food-borne illness, ensuring the safety of food, improving research on contaminants leading to food-borne illness, and improving security of food from intentional contamination, and for other purposes.” This bill will require farms to use specific fertilizers and poisonous insect sprays dictated by the newly formed Administration to “make sure there is no danger to the public food supply.” Read the rest of this entry »

Last week Dr. Edgar Mitchell, former Apollo 14 astronaut, remarked at the National Press Club following the 5th annual X-Conference, sponsored by the Paradigm Research Group. Links to the video can be found here…Part 1, Part 2.
Dr. Mitchell stated that we “are not alone in the universe”, and “Our destiny, in my opinion, and we might as well get started with it, is [to] become a part of the planetary community. … We should be ready to reach out beyond our planet and beyond our solar system to find out what is really going on out there.
